Same five-reason framework — particularly relevant for video / voice / multimodal use cases where uploaded media (faces, images, voice samples) are sensitive personal data:
- Data goes to China. Hailuo video gen uploads (your reference images, your reference videos, your face for personalisation) route to mainland-China servers.
- Chinese law applies. PRC framework.
- Outputs filtered. CAC content rules apply.
- Voice cloning sample retention is a sensitive case. Uploaded voice samples are biometric data; weak privacy guarantees here matter more than for text chats.
- Western video / voice alternatives are now competitive. Sora 2, Veo 3, Runway Gen-4, Luma Dream Machine, Pika, Higgsfield, ElevenLabs, OpenAI Voice Engine — Western options match or exceed Hailuo’s capabilities.
